Back in 2019 September when we were able to be about the world we spent a short but full day in Genoa to visit the Staglieno Cemetery…

Spent 30 minutes a few afternoons ago doing a quick portrait shoot at the back of a fast food restaurant with Liam, was a lot of fun.
Melbourne's streets with the Hasselblad and some Velvia
Just some photos taken in August of Melbourne nearing the end of winter. I really do love the older buildings that survive the and strain for light amongst the newer developments.

Butterfingers @ The Gasometer
My family and I spent an Easter Sunday at The Gasometer being blown away by the tunes and words of the bombastic Butterfingers. I hope this images capture some of the frivolity.

Went for a walk with the Rollei and some B&W Fuji Acros 100
It's taken me a year to finally get a few photos from a roll in the Rolleiflex that I am happy with. Taking the time to wait and look for interesting light and shadow was worth it...and this Fuji Acros film is lovely.
Hanging Rock Classic Car Show
I'm not a rev head or car guy, but I do love the shapes, colours, materials and decals of automobiles that came before the plastic of the eighties. There is something to cars, buildings or products that were made in those golden eras. There was time, money and thought into making something that was beautiful and made to last. It was also a buzz to be photographing things that I don't usually see often or have a need to photograph. I only wish I had have taken one of my old cameras from the same time as some of these beautiful metal people movers.
This gentleman had a great story how his car was driven across Europe in the sixties I think, hoisted onto a boat to Australia and he still drives it.
How cool is that? A home for your shovel & the other side had a home for your pick. Now that is a working vehicle.
Awww puppies.
My favourite car of the day...
I look so serious, maybe I'm just sad I can't drive this home.
I nearly forgot the General Lee.
Swordcraft & Film
I went to Swordcraft with my son one Friday ago with my film camera. It gave me the opportunity to see what its all about and make some photos. Swordcraft was like being on a movie set! The craft, work and art that goes into the outfits and equipment is awesome. Then there is the actual battles which are intense, but everyone is really having a good time...who doesn't need a but of fun? It felt like a really open and happy place to be, where everyone gets to belt each other with awesome weapons.
My usual pastime is using my film on the street and that is a lot slower and more difficult to find/make a great image but still rewarding. This felt like I was cheating, being in this wonderful world of Swordcraft with all of its action and artistry.
When I was unloading the film in the bag, I couldn't get it on the tank reel and bent it, put fingerprints on it, light leaked in when I swapped a new reel in. I made all the mistakes you can but it doesn't matter, the subject is just so appealing to me...and the imperfection and old look adds something to the subject.
