The first day I met Ceri & Fulli, was the day of their wedding. A friend who was to photograph the wedding had a family emergency, and I was honoured to jump in and fill the space.
I was a little nervous not knowing the couple, but we did have a chat the night before ;)
What a day it was...just so joyous. I'm so glad to have been a part of this brilliantly fun day...and so grateful to have met these two souls.

Over the last year I have found a new love for film, and this photo is one of the reasons. The final result is like a opening a present, not knowing what is going to be there in a developed roll. Besides how film looks, which is a matter of taste (I think it tastes like an almond croissant)...I am really enjoying the process. Film is expensive in time and money and makes you count your shots and slow down to ensure each frame is as good as you can get it.
The slowing down and value of the film frame, is making me take the time to chat to people on the streets and get to know them a little better. I'm starting to believe that this is the best part of the process. Having spent the last 3 years with street photography honing my craft; looking for the combinations of interesting light, shapes, composition and human gesture...there was something unrealised. What I really wanted was to connect with people. The photograph for me now becomes a record of that meeting. Sometimes that photo has been digital, but more so film lately. To me the film is a little imperfect, organic and grainy a little closer to a memory.
In the end though whether you make photographs with film or digital, making a good one is about connecting.
A friend asked if I could take some photos at their recording session a couple of weeks back. It was challenging in the very low light to get these shots...but the limit of light lent to the mood of the shoot. I hope I captured the mood of the song with these images for Matt.
